England’s care and support system needs reform in order to meet the demands of our changing society. This website will follow the reform process, reporting on developments and inviting people to join the discussion.

The Stakeholder Debate

learning-difficultyStakeholders from organisations or government bodies that work within or across the care and support system system have a key role to play in the care and support debate. They can be service, benefits or allowance providers or be representatives of service users.

In this section you can view and discuss specially commissioned themed articles, read what stakeholders are saying and register for updates about how the debate is progressing.

Themed Debates

During the 2008 engagement period, we hosted themed debates for stakeholders. For each theme we commissioned papers from stakeholders with expert knowledge. The aim of the themed debates is to focus on key issues relating to care and support in a thought-provoking way.

The debates are:

The role of the family and communities

Fair and clear access to care and support

The role of private finance

Joining up care and support in the future

Promoting equality and human rights

If you have read the papers, please let us have your response.
