Members of the public met with Minister for Care Services Phil Hope and discussed the reform of adult care and support in England as the Big Care Debate Roadshow pulled into Darlington.
The Roadshow offers members of the public the chance to join the Big Care Debate and have their say on the reform options set out in the Government's recently-published consultation document Shaping the Future of Care Together.
Speaking at the event, Mr Hope stressed the importance of getting involved in the debate: "Don't be a commentator, be a shaper," he said. "People are hungry to see change."
The Roadshow allows people to join the debate in a variety of ways. There is a seating area where people can watch information videos and talk to Big Care Debate representatives, and a 1-2-1 area for those wishing to give their response in private.
They can fill in the Big Care Questionnaire, or add their comments on this website, via a touch screen computer system.
For those with less time to engage, there will be paper copies of the Big Care Questionnaire, our public leaflets and postcards. These can be filled in on the spot or taken away and posted later.
The roadshows are a key part of the Government’s plan to engage with a range of stakeholders and citizens across England. This will help raise awareness of the issues contained in the Green Paper, and allow people to have their say on the major issues around reform of the adult care and support system and the creation of a new National Care Service.
